CBRE: Bay Area Ranks #1 for Tech Talent

The San Francisco Bay Area remains the top market in CBRE’s 2022 Scoring Tech Talent report for the 10th consecutive year. In 2021, the U.S. added 136,000 tech talent jobs as the sector bounced back from the pandemic-related drop-off in 2020, however, economic turmoil in 2022 will test the industry once again.

The Bay Area has the largest tech labor market with nearly 379,000 workers. “Demand for tech talent remains at an all time high despite economic precautions from employers. Bay Area tech companies have fueled the region’s economy and continue to support its growth by developing the most sought-after talent and innovations in the world,” said Todd Husak, Managing Director of CBRE’s Bay Area Tech and Media Practice.

CBRE’s report ranks the top 50 North American markets based on 13 measures of their ability to attract and develop tech talent, including graduation rates, labor pool size and real estate costs. The top 5 markets in the 2022 study include the Bay Area at #1, followed by Seattle, Toronto, Washington D.C. and New York.
