CBRE Arranges Initial Lease at Newly Renovated Canal Station

Consulting firm R.M. Chin & Associates has signed a 15,473-square-foot lease for a new Chicago office at 801 S. Canal St., the first new lease signed at the former Northern Trust office building, Canal Station.

CBRE’s Bill Sheehy and Brady Wolfe represented R.M. Chin & Associates in the transaction. Telos’ Jeff Dowdell and Matt Whipple represented 601W, the New York-based developer that purchased the former single-tenant office building in 2019. “The new space will promote collaboration and innovation while being close to Chicago’s central business district,” said Eileen Chin, President of R.M. Chin & Associates.

601W’s redevelopment of the six-story, 680,000-square-foot building includes new windows, doubling the size of the property’s original windows, a new amenity center, a state-of-the-art fitness center, and a tenant lounge. Gardner Builders was the general contractor, and Solomon Cordwell Buenz oversaw the architectural redesign.

“Canal Station is a stunning transformation of single tenant designed asset to a new Class A multi-tenant office building with the next level of hospitality and wellness-focused amenities,” said Matt Whipple, a Senior Vice President at Telos.
