CBL Backfills Vacant Carson’s with Sporting Goods Store

Dunham’s Sports is coming to CBL Properties’ Laurel Park Place in the Detroit suburb of Livonia, MI, replacing the former Carson’s location. The sporting goods retailer, which operates more than 230 stores across the Midwest and South, will occupy approximately 45,000 square feet of the shuttered department store’s space.

“This announcement comes less than one year after Carson’s closure, further illustrating the strong demand we are experiencing from growing retailers and other users,” said CEO Stephen Lebowitz of Chattanooga, TN-based CBL.

“We are making tremendous progress on our anchor replacement program with nearly two dozen of these projects committed, including six already open, and many others in various stages of negotiation,” he added.

Construction on the Dunham’s project is underway, with a planned opening in fall. Additional details for the remainder of the former Carson’s will be announced as plans are finalized.
