Caviness Beef Plans Plant Expansion

Caviness Beef Packers Ltd. unveiled plans to expand its processing plant in the Texas Panhandle town of Hereford, TX, to increase daily capacity from 1,800 to 2,600 head of cattle. The $30 million expansion will add approximately 65,000 square feet, pushing the plant’s total size to 375,000 square feet. The investment will also cover additional carcass coolers, animal welfare facilities, box and dry goods storage and a hide processing area.

Construction is expected to begin in October 2018, with completion scheduled for fall 2019. Caviness also operates a beef plant in Amarillo, TX, and CS Beef Packers LLC in Idaho in partnership with J.R. Simplot Co.
