Cavatina Pitches Bold Mixed-Use Project for Bainbridge Island
Polish real estate developer Cavatina Capital Group has teamed-up with design firm Epstein and locally-based Coates Architecture and Design to put together a conceptual mixed-use redevelopment project on Bainbridge Island. According to the Seattle Daily Journal of Commerce, the plan calls for a new residential area, retail space, hotel, concert hall with outdoor amphitheater and parks and plazas.
The development is hypothetical at this point, as the land proposed for the project is mainly a parking area for the Winslow Ferry, and is not even for sale. In addition, there are several different owners of the space, but the project team has reportedly already held exploratory conversations with some landowners.
In a pitch video, the proposed project shows a 2,000-seat sustainably-designed concert hall surrounded by residential buildings and landscaped green space. The egg-shaped concert venue would include an art exhibit space, community room and classrooms. While touted as a “shining beacon” to welcome people to the island, spokesman Rik Langendoen said that the project would not proceed if the community did not support it.
