Caterpillar Moving Global Headquarters to Irving, Texas
The Caterpillar offices in Irving are going to get a whole lot busier. The world-renowned farm and mining equipment company made the announcement midday Tuesday. “We believe it’s in the best strategic interest of the company to make this move, which supports Caterpillar’s strategy for profitable growth as we help our customers build a better, more sustainable world,” said Chairman and CEO Jim Umpleby.
The company has approximately 1,000 employees at its Chicago-area Deerfield, Illinois offices. It’s not clear how many will move into the Irving offices. There are currently 120 Caterpillar employees in the Irving location at Williams Square at Las Colinas.
Caterpillar has had a presence in Texas since the 1960’s across several areas of the company. The company will begin transitioning its headquarters during 2022. YTexas says this is the 60th company to relocate its corporate headquarters to Texas in the past year. Oracle, Hewlett Packard and Tesla are among companies who have made recent moves to the state.
