Caterpillar adding to two SA factories

Caterpillar Making $90M SA Factory Investment

Caterpillar Inc. will invest $90 million in two of its facilities in the San Antonio suburbs of Schertz and Seguin. The firm is preparing the two sites to produce its new Cat C13D industrial diesel engine. $70 million will go to Schertz for new equipment installations and the remaining $20 million will support engine assembly in Seguin. 25 new jobs are slated for the Schertz facility. Caterpillar, which said the new installations would not impact existing operations, plans to start C13D engine production in 2026.

Caterpillar’s C13D is a recently released 13-liter diesel engine platform with heavy-duty off-highway applications in the agricultural, construction and mining industries, among other fields.

Two years ago, Caterpillar moved its corporate headquarters from Deerfield, Illinois to Irving, Texas.
