Carrier Eyeing Fort Worth for $433M Plant
HVAC giant Carrier is seeking the best deal from any one of three cities in a competition to build a $433.8 million manufacturing plant. Fort Worth is one of them. The city is proposing a seven-year tax abatement agreement valued at $10.9 million as an incentive for the company to bring the plant there. The city would also nominate the company for a Texas Enterprise Zone grant with an estimated value of $2.5 million.
In return, the company would agree to a minimum capital investment of $433.8 million in a new plant by the end of 2028. Of that, $36 million would be spent on real property construction costs and $397.8 million on equipping the plant. The company would also pledge to spend 30% of construction costs with small businesses and provide a minimum of 495 jobs by the end of 2029 with a minimum average salary of $75,000.
The proposed location is Alliance Westport 12, a 1.2 million-square-foot building.,being developed by Hillwood.
Carrier plans to make a decision on the new manufacturing plant in the third quarter of this year.
