Carol Schatz to Retire from DCBID
The Downtown Center Business Improvement District’s (DCBID) founding President and CEO, Carol E. Schatz, plans to retire effective September 30, 2018, after leading the organization and the Downtown Los Angeles Renaissance for nearly three decades. Suzanne Holley, currently DCBID EVP and COO, was named to succeed Schatz.
“It’s been a great privilege to have played a central role in planning and leading Downtown LA’s Renaissance,” said Schatz. “The DCBID was a key factor in the Downtown Renaissance, and in bringing in more than $30 billion in new investment to DTLA.”
Among the many key initiatives Schatz led included the statewide effort for passage of legislation to allow property-based BIDs to form, and then quickly founded the DCBID in 1998 in DTLA. She successfully took it through four successive renewals, including the overwhelming vote of property owners to renew the BID in 2017 for an additional 10 years.
