Carlton Veteran Campbell Promoted to CEO

The Carlton Group has promoted Michael J. Campbell to CEO. He succeeds Howard Michaels, who founded the mortgage finance company in 1991 and led it until his death from gastric cancer this past September.

Having joined Carlton in 1999, Campbell worked closely with Michaels for nearly 20 years. “Building on what Howard started, our pipeline of business is as deep and robust as ever,” he said.

“My primary role with The Carlton Group is to further elevate what has already been an incredibly successful firm focused on raising equity and debt capital for the acquisition and development of real estate, particularly for transactions that require a more complex financial structure,” added Campbell.

Campbell is joined as co-managing principal of Carlton by Daniel I. Bildner, the firm’s general counsel for the past seven years, who now also assumes the role of COO.
