CareerBuilder Eyes Relocation to West Loop

Job-search website CareerBuilder is finalizing a deal to move its headquarters to 300 S. Riverside Plaza, Crain’s Chicago Business reported. The move would represent a downsizing from the 162,000 square feet it occupies as 200 N. LaSalle St.’s anchor, yet would still mean occupying more than 100,000 square feet over two floors at 300 S. Riverside. However, a CareerBuilder spokeswoman told Crain’s that the company was still mulling its options.

A CareerBuilder deal would continue a comeback that 300 S. Riverside has made since JPMorgan Chase left the 1.1-million-square-foot property nearly half-empty in September 2016. Since then, Cars.com, Peapod and other tenants have inked sizable leases at the West Loop property.

Adding another major tenant at 300 S. Riverside would also underscore the greater prominence that office properties along the Chicago River’s South Branch have enjoyed recently. The redevelopment of the Old Post Office will likely add to the momentum.
