Cardone Industries Breaks Ground on 920K-SF Distribution Center
Construction is underway on a 920,000-square-foot distribution center belonging to Cardone Industries Inc. The $50 million project is going north in the city of Harlingen’s (TX) industrial park on Farm-to-Market Road 509. The project is anticipated to bring up to 750 jobs to the region.
Cardone is the largest privately held automotive parts manufacturer in the world. The company employs more than 5,000 in California, Pennsylvania and Texas, as well as in Canada and Mexico.
Upon its completion in 2018, the facility, which will sit on 60 acres, will have the distinction of being the second-largest in Cameron County. Cardone officials cited the company’s nearby facility, as well as a second facility in Brownsville, TX, and its brake-manufacturing operations over the border in Matamoros, Mexico as key factors for putting a distribution center in Harlingen.
