Calling Affordable Developers — City to Release Vacant Property List
Wouldn’t it be nice if someone made a list of all the vacant public and private lots and buildings in areas already zoned for residential development? A new law, 1036-A, requires the city’s Dept. Housing Preservation and Development to create this list, and publish the details every five years. A shorter list — of just the city-owned sites — will be reported every year.
“With these new laws, we shine a light on buildings and vacant land sitting empty – and that will help us meet a goal of creating 300,000 affordable homes,” said Mayor Bill de Blasio.
