Callahan Construction Breaks Ground on 131K-SF MXU Project in Brighton
Callahan Construction Managers has broken ground on a 131,500-square-foot mixed-use project in Brighton, MA. The project is being developed by Washington Square Ventures (WSV) with Stantec serving as architect.
To make way for the new 131,500 square foot, five-story building with a basement, three separate structures were demolished on the site, a gas station, an auto repair shop and office space. The mixed-use building will host apartment and retail parking totaling 127 spaces, approximately 12,500 square feet of retail on the ground floor, and 108 residential apartments on floors two through five with 18 units being designated for affordable housing. Building amenities will include a fitness area, clubhouse lounge, entertaining kitchen, expansive workshare, and home office space.
“My partner Matt Faris and I are pleased to see our permitting and design efforts come to fruition at 5 Washington”, said Justin Krebs, Co-Managing Partner at Washington Square Ventures. “We appreciate our collaboration with the community and BPDA to redevelop a long-blighted gas service station and vacant office building into a forward-thinking mixed-use development, including new apartments and a CVS, adding to the affordable housing stock while enhancing retail amenities for our tenants and the neighborhood.”
