Call Goes Out for Design Team on Discovery Partners Institute

COVID-19 or no, the Discovery Partners Institute (DPI) project at the University of Illinois is advancing. The state’s Capital Development Board has put out a call for professional services consultants for the design, bid/award and construction administration services on the $250-million facility in the South Loop, as part of Related Midwest’s The 78 mega-project.

“The expertise of a design team consisting of an architect and engineers is needed to design an architecturally significant innovation and research center,” according to a bulletin from the CDB. “The DPI is a leading global research institute that brings together the best and brightest students, faculty, and researchers from the University of Illinois, global universities, industry partners and federal research laboratories to tackle big societal challenges and foster innovation and entrepreneurship.”

The CDB plans to launch a three-stage selection process for a design team on May 14. The procurement period will end on July 2.
