California’s Top Executives Dominate List of Big Paydays
The Golden State is just that in terms of what executives at companies based there are paid. A survey by Equliar and the NY Times shows six of the top 10 highest-paid executives in the nation in fiscal year 2018 were employed by California companies.
Topping the list was Elon Musk (pictured) with a $2.3 billion compensation package. Other California executives among the top 10 slots on the list were Palo Alto Networks’ Nikesh Arora (No. 3, $125M), Oracle’s Mark V. Hurd (No. 4, $108M), Oracle’s Safra A. Catz (No. 5, $108M), Walt Disney’s Robert A. Iger (No. 7, $66M), and j2 Global’s Vivek Shah (No. 10, $45M).
Among the CRE executives on the list were BGC Partners’ Howard W. Lutnick and Prologis’ Hamid R. Moghadam.
In 2018, the Equliar/NY Times analysis shows the median CEO received compensation of $18.6 million, an increase of $1.1 million, or 6.3%, from 2017. Further, CEO pay rose at nearly two times the rate of ordinary wages. The average American private-sector worker received a 3.2% raise in 2018.
