Where Do California’s Taxes Rank Against Rest of Country?
With Tax Day looming large and sweeping tax reform passed in recent months, WalletHub released its 2018 Taxpayer Survey as well as its yearly Tax Rates by State report. The reports help people better understand the confusing tax landscape.
Surprisingly, the survey found that states with no income tax aren’t always the cheapest overall, as they tend to have higher sales and property taxes.
Here is were California’s tax rates ranked, (where 1 was lowest and 25 was Average):
– 8th – Overall Effective State & Local Tax Rate
– 11th – Income Tax
– 17th – Real Estate Tax
– 27th – Vehicle Property Tax
– 30th – Sales & Excise Taxes
