  • ExchangeRight, one of the nation’s leading providers of diversified real estate DST and REIT investments, has expanded its strategic relations team with the appointment of Michael Leydig as SVP of the Pasadena-based company’s Pacific Northwest region. Leydig will serve advisors, representatives, and their investors in Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Alaska.  
  • Clearwater Living, a real estate and property management company focused on senior living communities, said Jill Zimmerman will be taking on new responsibilities in an expanded role as director of resident engagement and wellbeing. In her newly expanded role, Zimmerman will continue to inspire and cultivate the Newport Beach-based company’s Empowered Living program and will be responsible for the oversight and leadership of Clearwater Living’s Clearbrook Memory Support neighborhoods, which provide specialized services and programming for those living with memory loss. 
  • Kidder Mathews has hired Matthew Nebel as an SVP in San Francisco. He specializes in office tenant advisory and landlord representation throughout the Bay Area, with a focus on the East Bay Oakland metro. Before joining Kidder Mathews, Nebel was an SVP at Colliers in Oakland, where he spent nearly a decade. He also served as a director at Equistone Partners, leading the tenant representation practice group and assisting tenants in the negotiation of leases, subleases, lease restructures, and building sales/acquisitions. 
  • Los Angeles-based Arixa Capital hired Robert Kang as director, capital markets. Kang will lead Arixa’s loan sales program and expand its strategic partnerships with institutional loan buyers and Wall Street. He joins Arixa with nearly a decade of real estate finance experience, having previously worked at Constructive Capital, Toorak Capital Partners, PeerStreet and Evercore. He has helped execute more than $1 billion of financing and loan sale transactions over his career with prominent investors and capital partners. 
  • Kairos Investment Management Company, a $2.4-billion real estate private equity and debt platform headquartered in Irvine, added Jesse McDonald as senior investment director of real estate credit and Hyosung “HK” Kang as investment director. Before joining Kairos, Kang was senior director of acquisitions at Benedict Canyon Equities, where he led the acquisition and execution of more than $2.5 billion in multifamily properties of more than 10,000 units and played a key role in expanding the firm’s platform. McDonald, who leads Kairos’ East Coast origination efforts, was previously CIBC’s Managing director of commercial real estate originations, where he sourced, structured, and underwrote loans totaling more than $6 billion.  
  • Erin Toeniskoetter has been named president of Toeniskoetter Development Co., one of the key units of the family’s local real estate business. She will use her new role to lead a new company strategy to scout for more opportunities in property management. Before taking the reins as president of Toeniskoetter Development, she served as the San Jose-based development firm’s EVP for asset and property management. 
  • San Diego-based Realty Income Corporation announced that Jeff A. Jacobson will be joining its board of directors, effective Feb. 21. Jacobson is a retired global CEO of LaSalle Investment Management, the real estate investment arm of JLL, serving in that role from 2007 to 2021. Ronald L. Merriman has also announced his intention to retire from the board after 19 years and to not stand for reelection at Realty Income’s 2024 annual meeting of stockholders. 
  • Versity Student Housing REIT, headquartered in Aliso Viejo, has begun rebranding as Crew Campus. The company also announced the acquisition of its first REIT asset, Oso Verde Apartments, located in Waco, TX near Baylor University. 
  • Matterport, Inc. has launched Property Intelligence, a collection of AI-powered features that provides customers with access to automated measurements, layouts, editing, and reporting capabilities generated from a Matterport digital twin of their property. These new features bolster the company’s property marketing, design and construction, and facilities management solutions for automating key elements of home listings, construction projects and factory floor operations.
