California Goes to the Polls; Land Use on San Francisco and San Diego Ballots

Today is the day that Californians go to the polls, and by night’s end votes will be totaled for key races involving federal, state and local candidates and issues.

High profile, local land use and property issues will be on the ballot in San Francisco and San Diego counties.

While November’s split roll property tax increase and rent control measures will impact statewide CRE interests, these early 2020 ballot box decisions have far-reaching impact on a local level. Here’s a quick look at each measure:

San Francisco

Proposition D: If passed, places a landlord tax on vacant retail storefronts in specific areas.

Proposition E: If passed, limits new office development without commiserate affordable housing development.

San Diego

Measure A: If passed, requires a ballot approval for all development projects granted a County general plan amendment.

Measure B: If passed, affirms the County’s Newland Sierra development master plan approval.

Connect Bay Area 2020 is coming to San Francisco on April 23. For more information, or to register, click here.
