
Calare Gains 150K SF in Sale-Leaseback Transaction
Calare Properties struck a deal with MACOM Technology Solutions Inc. to acquire the latter’s 150,000-square-foot R&D manufacturing facility in a sale-leaseback transaction. As part of the acquisition of the property at 100 Chelmsford St. in Lowell, MA, Calare will develop an adjacent 58,000-square-foot, Class A office building that MACOM will lease for a 20-year term, upon the anticipated 2018 delivery.
The sales price was undisclosed, however, public records indicated the price was approximately $4.25 million.
MACOM, a supplier of analog, radio-frequency, millimeterwave and photonic semiconductor products, has been based at 100 Chelmsford for more than 25 years, and has leased the adjacent property at 121 Hale Street, also owned by Calare, for three years. Upon completion, 144 Chelmsford Street will serve as the centerpiece of MACOM’s corporate campus.
