Busy South Shore MF Market Racks Up Another Sale

Marcus & Millichap has arranged the sale of a 16-unit apartment property in the South Shore neighborhood. The asset sold for $1.85 million.

Anthony Hardy and Thomas Heitzman, both of Marcus & Millichap’s Chicago Downtown office, represented the undisclosed buyer and seller.

The circa-1923 building at 6816 S. Oglesby Ave. was completely renovated in 2014. It’s within walking distance to Jackson Park, which is one of two proposed sites for the Obama Presidential Center.

In recent months, the South Shore neighborhood has seen a number of trades of mainly pre-war apartment properties. Commenting last month on a clutch of multifamily sales on the South Side, Hardy observed, “Sale activity has been fueled by buzz around planned projects like the Obama Presidential Center and Tiger Woods-designed golf course—both of which would be located in nearby Jackson Park.”
