Burlingame Approves 476K-SF Life Science Campus

Boston-based King Street Properties and Bay Area-based Helios Real Estate Partners have won approval for a 476,000-square-foot life science campus at the intersection of Old Bayshore Highway and Malcolm Road in Burlingame, CA. According to the San Francisco Business Times, the complex is comprised of two office and research buildings, and would incorporate public areas into the project.

King Street purchased the land parcels in February for $45 million, and will tear-down four buildings to make way for the campus. Sean Lowenthal, with the Burlingame Planning Commission, said the project will “completely redefine the area.” The public package will include a conference center and a crosswalk that connects to the Bay Trail.

The complex, located just east of Highway 101, will feature a seven-story, 193,000-square-foot north campus with surface parking and an eight-story, 282,000-square-foot south campus with a nine-level parking garage. Designed by Perkins&Will, the facility will feature rooftop terraces and ground-floor plazas.
