Building Ventures Launches $95M Fund to Drive Built Environment Innovation

Boston, MA-based Building Ventures has closed its $95-million Fund II, which will be used to invest in 18-20 seed to series A construction and real estate tech startups focused on improving every stage of the full building lifecycle.

“Real estate and construction are notoriously slow moving, change resistant industries,” said Jesse Devitte, general partner of building ventures. “We’re investing in the founders and technologies at every stage of the building cycle that are ultimately making spaces we use healthier, more practical and less wasteful.”

Building Ventures began investing from Fund II in early 2022 and has deployed capital investments in:

  • Animated Insights: a leading provider of digital twin technology solutions across industry and infrastructure
  • Extracker: provides financial transparency to the construction industry by making change orders collaborative
  • Skillit: a powerful recruiting platform that provides construction companies access to a growing network of qualified workers

About Lisa McDuffie

Lisa McDuffie arrives at ConnectCRE via REALTOR® world, where she served for nearly two decades as communications director for one of the nation’s largest REALTOR® organizations. She supported two membership-elected presidents who were commercial real estate practitioners, and managed the communications initiatives of the organization’s commercial special interest group. When not following the latest commercial real estate news, Lisa is zeroed in on her charismatic off-the-track thoroughbred as she makes the transition from an utterly failed racehorse to a lovely show hunter.
