Building 77 Opens 1M-SF at the Brooklyn Navy Yard
Building 77, a one-million-square-foot, state-of-the-art manufacturing building, opened Nov. 9, 2017, at the Brooklyn Navy Yard.
“As we re-open this historic building, we re-imagine New York’s future,” said Mayor Bill de Blasio. “Investing in and expanding manufacturing space is key to growing and diversifying our economy and boosting wages.”
The $185 million renovation of the World War II-era storage facility is the centerpiece of a billion-dollar investment to add over two million square feet of space to the Navy Yard. In the next three years, the number of workers employed at the Navy Yard is expected to double, from 7,000 at 400 companies today to more than 17,000.
