Build-to-Suit for Amazon Gets Underway in West Humboldt Park

Amazon broke ground recently on DLN5, its newest delivery station in West Humboldt Park on Chicago’s West Side. Representatives from Amazon, developer Venture One Real Estate and general contractor Premier Design + Build were on hand, along with Ald. Emma Mitts and City of Chicago Deputy Director Samir Mayekar.

Located at 1260 N. Kostner Ave., the project will expand Amazon’s delivery infrastructure for customers in the Chicago area. The 141,360-square-foot building will serve as the last stop packages make before being delivered.

This past June, Amazon announced it would take over the former home of Allied Metals for the build-to-suit project. Mitts supported the move.

“In addition to bringing much-needed jobs and opportunity for under- and unemployed local residents, it will also inspire renewed hope to already disadvantaged neighborhoods further recently ravaged by the economic shutdowns caused by the COVID-19 pandemic,” she said in a prepared statement.
