$30 million Buc-ee's store going up in Amarillo

Buc-ee’s Gets Go-Ahead to Build Amarillo Store

If you’ve spent much time driving the dusty roads in Texas, you’ve very likely had to make a pit stop at Buc-ee’s. One has 75 gas pumps, another has the longest car wash in America. Oh, and they claim they have the cleanest bathrooms of any gas station in Texas. They have 35 stores in Texas. And Amarillo will make it 36. If it’s anything like some new Buc-ee’s that have opened in Tennessee and Georgia, people will wait in long lines to become the first customers when a new store opens.

The one in Amarillo took longer than expected. The Amarillo City Council voted to okay the project in February. But a dispute over an easement delayed the opening of the new store. Recently, a local judge ruled the project can move forward. So the $30 million project is now back on and Amarillo will get its own Buc-ee’s Travel Center at E I-40 and Airport Blvd.
