Broomfield Airport Expanding Runway, Adding Hangars, Warehouses
The Rocky Mountain Metropolitan Airport (RMMA) in Broomfield has big plans. The airport has started an ambitious capital improvement plan it hopes will attract dozens of new users and one day provide impetus for a 100-acre business park.
The Denver Business Journal reports construction on a budgeted $7 million taxiway is underway.
The project involved building added runway that would eventually connect to dozens of hangars built by private developers.
Once the new taxiway is complete, which is expected to be around the end of the year, RMMA will issue a request for proposals for a mix of tenants.
RMMA’s taxiway project will be funded mainly by a $5.5 million Federal Aviation Administration grant, with the remainder covered by the airport’s enterprise fund.
The airport recently earned some extra income from selling about 500 acres south that will be dedicated to the future business park.
