Brookshire’s to Close Bakery

Brookshire’s Grocery Co., headquartered in Tyler, TX, will be laying off management, and plans to close its bakery division within the next 60-90 days. The bakery has been open for more than 20 years, and produces approximately 1.7 million products a year for Brookshire’s brands.

The company had considered a $1 billion sale in 2015 for its more than 150 stores in Texas, Arkansas and Louisiana, but the disposition was eventually taken off the table. Store brands include Brookshire’s, Super 1 Foods, and the Fresh by Brookshire’s flagship store in Tyler.
