Brooklyn’s First Supertall Tower Tops Out at 1,066 Feet

JDS Development Group and SHoP Architects have topped out construction on The Brooklyn Tower at 9 DeKalb Ave. in Brooklyn. At 1,066 feet in height, the 93-story residential tower incorporating the landmarked Dime Savings Bank of Brooklyn is the borough’s first supertall building.

“Today marks a significant milestone for Brooklyn and New York City as The Brooklyn Tower reaches its peak, continuing Brooklyn’s long history of design innovation and bold thinking,” said JDS founder and CEO Michael Stern. “We take great pride in the thoughtful work that SHoP and our JDS Construction team have done to create this unprecedented new tower, while carefully preserving the historic Brooklyn landmark.”

The Brooklyn Tower is the third large-scale, mixed-use project by JDS and SHoP in New York City, following another supertall with a landmarked adaptive-reuse component, 111 W. 57th St. along Billionaires Row, and the American Copper Buildings on the East River.
