Brookfield’s Bankside Project Adds Workforce Development Center

Brookfield Properties’ Bankside project along the South Bronx waterfront will be home to the Empowerment Center, a new workforce development center run by the Mott Haven Historic Districts Association led by lifelong Mott Haven resident Samuel Brooks, with support from Brookfield.

In addition, Brookfield has topped out at the phase two site, “Lincoln at Bankside,” located at 101 Lincoln Ave. The phase one site, “Third at Bankside,” is on schedule to open by the end of 2021.

The Empowerment Center will offer professional development services such as resume writing and job training workshops as well as community events such as movie screenings, book clubs and neighborhood historic tours. Office space will be available for local small business owners, and the center will have a small coffee shop to welcome Bronx residents in. The community center is expected to open in Spring 2022.
