Bronzeville Will See MXU Along So. Cottage Avenue
Connect Apartments is coming up on June 26th in Los Angeles. Here’s a link to find out more about the conference and to register.
Residents of the Bronzeville section of Chicago’s 4th Ward recently got their first look at plans for the first phase of a new mixed-use housing and retail project to be built on what’s currently a vacant lot at 4400 S. Cottage Grove Ave. To be known as 4400 Grove, it will feature two 42-unit, four-story buildings and 15,200 square feet of retail space on the buildings’ ground floors.
Michaels Development Company and Brinshore Development, which are partnering on the project, have secured $17.3 million in municipal and state funding that accounts for nearly half the $38.3 million in total development costs. Twenty-five percent of the apartments will be affordable.
“This is a development that’s been a long-time coming, even before I was elected” in 2015, Ald. Sophia King told community members at last week’s meeting. The new project adds to a number of MXUs rising in Bronzeville and other South Side neighborhoods.
