Brokers Sleep Out
Real estate leaders camped on the street in solidarity with homeless young people…and to raise much needed cash…for Covenant House, an organization committed to helping homeless people stabilize and rebuild their lives.
From the evening of Oct. 12, 2017 to morning Oct. 13, CRE professionals including CBRE’s Ryan Silber, senior associate in institutional properties, and Dillon Bergum, a financial analyst, spent the night on the closed-off street outside Covenant House in Midtown Manhattan. A total of 150 real estate pros participated in New York, in addition to Covenant locations in New Jersey and Florida.
“A moment when our kids start to think that maybe… people care, there is hope. This kind of personal, hands-on support is a life raft for our kids,” said Kevin Ryan, president of Covenant House.
Since 2011, the annual “Covenent House Real Estate Sleep Out” has raised more than $25 million for Covenant House’s programs, which include providing, shelter, food, clothing, medical care, education and employment support.
