Broadcom Plans to Sell 1M SF of VMware’s Palo Alto Campus
Semiconductor giant Broadcom is seeking to sell nearly two-thirds of the 1.6 million-square-foot Palo Alto campus it acquired in November, the San Francisco Chronicle reported Wednesday. The company, which acquired competitor VMware for $69 billion, plans to sell about one million square feet of the former VMware property at 3401 Hillview Ave. and occupy the remaining 600,000 square feet for its headquarters.
Pricing for the Palo Alto property, which is divided into two parcels, isn’t known. CBRE has the listing, reported the Chronicle.
A supplier of semiconductor and infrastructure software, Broadcom was previously headquartered at 1320 Ridder Dr. in San Jose, where its real estate portfolio includes several other properties. The VMware campus was part of the deal for acquiring the company. Broadcom’s plan for its remaining San Jose buildings is not yet known.
