Bridge Plans Industrial Development on 16-Acre REI Kent HQ Site

Chicago-based Bridge Development Partners is buying 16 acres in Kent with plans to develop a two-building warehouse project. The site at 6750 S. 228th St. houses Recreational Equipment Inc.’s (REI) headquarters, which is relocating to a new HQ facility in Bellevue (pictured).

Seattle-based Heartland had the listing to sell the four office buildings totaling 167,000 square feet for REI, though city officials noted office market buyers were limited in South King County. The deal for the property is reportedly in the mid $30-per-square-foot range, which would work out to roughly $24.2 million.

The project is located in a new Kent sub-area plan called Rally the Valley, which received city council approved last month. The specific Bridge development plans or timeline are not yet public, but the city is encouraging smaller development projects with more windows and employee outdoor amenity space.
