Bridge Industrial Scraps Plans for Industrial Park

Bridge Industrial, the developer that proposed turning Baxter International’s Deerfield headquarters into an industrial park, has withdrawn its petition for the project.

Bridge notified the Village of Deerfield it pulled the proposal for a 101-acre site between Saunders Road and Interstate 94/294, north of Lake Cook Road. The company lobbied the village to annex the corporate campus, which it planned to transform into warehouses totaling more than 1.1 million square feet.

The move comes just one day before Bridge was to face homeowners at a village commission meeting. They have fought the project, citing traffic concerns and an increase in Deerfield property’s annual tax bill, estimated to reach $3.2 million in 2027, up from $584,000 in 2021.

While the developer could still pursue the project without Deerfield annexing the property, if the plan is no longer viable, it may be the end of Bridge’s agreement to buy the campus from Baxter for approximately $90 million.
