Briar Meads Capital Buys Student Housing Community at Louisiana Tech in Ruston

Briar Meads Capital has acquired CEV Ruston, a 120-unit / 432-bed student-housing community immediately adjacent to the Louisiana Tech University campus in Ruston, LA.

Scott Clifton, Stewart Hayes, Teddy Leatherman, Kevin Kazlow and Jack Goldberger of JLL represented seller Timberline Real Estate Ventures, a privately held real estate operator and investment manager. Briar Meads Capital is a private investment management firm that specializes in the acquisition of distressed loan assets.

The 2008-constructed, CEV Ruston features fully furnished two- and four-bedroom units that according to JLL present an opportunity for value-add upgrades. The property also offers an all-inclusive amenity package that includes a fitness center, group and private study rooms, fully equipped computer center and pool and deck.

The community at 1812 W. Alabama Avenue also attracts students from the nearby Grambling State University, which has gained national recognition as graduating the highest number of diverse students in STEM programs.

About Lisa McDuffie

Lisa McDuffie arrives at ConnectCRE via REALTOR® world, where she served for nearly two decades as communications director for one of the nation’s largest REALTOR® organizations. She supported two membership-elected presidents who were commercial real estate practitioners, and managed the communications initiatives of the organization’s commercial special interest group. When not following the latest commercial real estate news, Lisa is zeroed in on her charismatic off-the-track thoroughbred as she makes the transition from an utterly failed racehorse to a lovely show hunter.
