BREAKING NEWS: CRE Leaders Unite for March 8 Fire Relief Fundraiser
Responding to the devastating impact of the Eaton and Pacific Palisades Fires in January, The Altadena Community Fund and The Palisades Community Fund, community-led dedicated relief funds, have been established to lead the local recovery. As a step toward the redevelopment and long-term revitalization of the communities impacted by these fires, Outstanding in the Field will produce a special Day After Tomorrow community table at the Rose Bowl Stadium—which served as a staging area for first responders during the Eaton Fire—on Saturday, March 8.
Renowned chefs will collaborate in the Outstanding in the Field kitchen with chefs from the Altadena and Palisades communities to create a menu incorporating seasonal California ingredients from local farms. They include Giada de Laurentiis; Eric Greenspan; Otium’s Timothy Hollingsworth; Redbird’s Neil Fraser; Ilé’s Tolu Eros; Phenakite’s Minh Phan; Checker Hal’s Gabe Kennedy; Chainsaw’s Karla Subero Pittol; Perle’s Dean Yasharian; José Andrés’ Culver City-based restaurant, Zaytinya; Pez Coastal Kitchen’s Bret Thompson; Amara Kitchen’s Paola Guasp; Agnes Restaurant and Cheesery’s Vanessa Tilaka Kalb; and Little Fish’s Anna Sonenshein and Niki Vahle.
100% of the net proceeds from the four-course ticketed dinner will be distributed between the Altadena and Pacific Palisades Community Funds, which were established as vehicles for both immediate relief and long-term community restoration and stewardship. Tickets range from $1,000 to $10,000. The evening will include a live charity auction featuring celebrity and money-can’t-buy- experiences, with proceeds also going to the community funds.
“This is a powerful act of kindness by the food community to nourish the people of Altadena and the Palisades,” said Outstanding in the Field founder Jim Denevan. “We feel privileged to set this healing table just miles from where the Eaton Fire burned with the participation of the farmers and winemakers that care for our land.”
The Community Funds were founded by a group of local residents who saw an opportunity to empower Altadena and Pacific Palisades residents to have agency over their own fundraising and rebuilding efforts. Fund founding members include Kate Fishel and Bill Fishel, an executive vice chairman with Newmark and current chairman of the board for Make-A-Wish Greater Los Angeles; Paul Fuhrman, co-founder and managing partner of Miramar Capital; Sam Bakhshandehpour, global CEO of José Andrés Group; Mickey Segal, founder and managing partner, NKSFB; and Lindsay Petersen, associate, Miramar Capital.
