Blackstone REIT CEO Wesley LePatner Among Those Killed in Midtown Manhattan Shootings

Wesley LePatner, CEO of Blackstone Real Estate Income Trust, was among four people shot and killed by a gunman Monday evening at 345 Park Ave. in Midtown Manhattan, where Blackstone is headquartered. LePatner was 43.

In a statement, a Blackstone representative said, “Words cannot express the devastation we feel. Wesley was a beloved member of the Blackstone family and will be sorely missed. She was brilliant, passionate, warm, generous, and deeply respected within our firm and beyond. She embodied the best of Blackstone. Our prayers are with her husband, children and family.”

The statement continued: “We are also saddened by the loss of the other innocent victims as well, including brave security personnel and NYPD.”

LePatner, who also served as global head of Core+ Real Estate, joined Blackstone in 2014. She previously spent more than a decade at Goldman Sachs, most recently as a managing director in the Real Estate Investment Group within the Asset Management Division. At Blackstone, she also chaired the Women’s Initiative.

The shooter, identified as Las Vegas resident Shane Devon Tamura, appeared to be targeting the National Football League, which also has offices at 345 Park. Published reports say Tamura opened fire in the lobby before taking an elevator to a floor he mistakenly believed housed NFL offices. He then turned the gun on himself, the Wall Street Journal reported.
