Breaking News: Beyond Meat Cooks Up New 300K-SF HQ Facility in El Segundo
Los Angeles-based Hackman Capital Partners signed a nearly 300,000-square-foot headquarters lease with Beyond Meat at 888 N. Douglas St. in El Segundo. The 12-year transaction is reportedly one of the largest signed in SoCal since the pandemic began.
The maker of plant-based meat substitutes plans to relocate and expand later this fall from a site in El Segundo. The new 30-acre, cutting-edge campus will provide Beyond Meat needed space to expand research capabilities, develop new technologies and products in a facility that could see its employee count quadruple.
Hackman Capital is completing a more than $100-million makeover of 888 Douglas that commenced in 2017 and is slated to deliver in spring 2021. The 391,000-square-foot building will feature 50-foot ceilings and an open, industrial feel that companies favor today. The 1930’s building formerly housed a bus manufacturing plant for Pickwick Stage Co., and served as an airplane manufacturing facility for Douglas Aircraft Co.
JLL’s Gary Horwitz, Blake Searles, Connor Hall and Kamil Agha represented the tenant. CBRE’s Jeff Pion and John Ayoob, as well as Newmark’s Bill Bloodgood represented the landlord.
