Brandywine Realty to Amazon: We Have Your Site

Amazon made a huge splash when it announced it was seeking bids from cities for its second headquarters. And, Austin was one of many cities submitting a bid for the retail giant’s new digs. Brandywine Realty Trust, indicated that the IBM Corp. Broadmoor Campus on Austin’s north side could be a front-runner for the headquarters.

Brandywine acquired the property in 2005 from IBM, which has occupied the campus since 1991. The one-million-square-foot asset is situated on 66 acres on Burnet Road, east of the mixed-use Domain. The REIT is planning to redevelop it into a mixed-use property that would include office and residential space, and two hotels.

Developers will request a zoning change for taller structures to be built on the site. They’re also working with Capital Metro to incorporate an additional rail station on the property, as well as bus stops within the campus.
