BPDA Delays Ruling on Downtown Height Limits
The Boston Planning and Development Agency (BPDA) will delay a decision on new rules for building heights downtown until next year, Boston Business Journal reported.
The BPDA has been working on a planning overhaul for downtown Boston since 2018, but paused the process when COVID-19 hit. The most debated proposal has been a 400-foot height limit in one section of the neighborhood.
The new timeline indicates that zoning heights will not be included in the planning report going to the BPDA board in November but will be finalized separately later. The timeline for finalizing height rules for mixed-use projects downtown may not be until the second half of 2024.
