Boston Properties, Bernstein Cos. to Build $600M Marriott’s HQ
Marriott International Inc. selected Boston Properties Inc. and The Bernstein Cos. to build its new headquarters in Bethesda, MD. The builders will be reconfiguring Bethesda Center, at 7750 Wisconsin Ave., for Marriott’s new $600-million home.
Marriott announced in October that it wanted a site in downtown Bethesda that would be large enough to accommodate a 700,000-square-foot headquarters and a 230-key Marriott-branded flagship hotel. When the campus opens in 2022, it will host approximately 3,500 employees.
Bernstein and Boston will jointly develop the office building (and own it), and Bernstein will own the hotel on its own. The project is currently pending zoning and land-use entitlements, as well as final incentives offered by the state of Maryland and Montgomery County.
