Boston Properties, Bernstein Break Ground on $600M Marriott HQ

The Bernstein Companies and joint venture partner Boston Properties marked a key development milestone last week, when they broke ground on the future $600-million Marriott International headquarters and Marriott Hotel in downtown Bethesda, MD. The 785,000-square-foot office building will be a cutting-edge, sustainable, workplace offering state-of-the-art technology, modern amenities, and walkable transportation options for roughly 3,500 associates.

“Montgomery County has been our home for more than 60 years, and we take immense pride in this community and in the strong relationships we’ve developed here,” said J.W. Marriott Jr.

Designed to LEED GOLD standards with flexible, collaborative workspaces, the campus will also offer Marriott associates a childcare center, a fitness center and a cafeteria. A new 244-key, full-service Marriott Hotel is also planned.

Construction is scheduled to begin in July, with the hotel set to open in early 2022 and the HQ building delivering by mid-2022.
