BMW’s $30M Arizona Dealership
BMW is readying to build a full-service car dealership in Glendale, AZ. The Glendale city council voted to sell 13 acres at Loop 101 and Union Hills Road to West Valley RE LLC (Berkshire Hathaway Automotive) for $2.4 million. The facility will go north at a $30 million cost, and will eventually employ between 150 to 200 people. The dealership will have an Alpina designation, which involves a particularly high-end automobile.
The site was originally designated as a park-and-ride lot for commuters. But then Glendale heard from Berkshire Hathaway Automotive, and “we felt that we had a lot more options in the city to locate a park-and-ride lot, than finding a home for a major, premium brand auto dealership,” Glendale City Manager Kevin Phelps told the Phoenix Business Journal.
