Blueprint to Convert Former San Antonio Power Company HQ into Marriott Brand Hotel
Blueprint Hospitality will begin a $55 million renovation of the former CPS Energy headquarters building this April, with the purpose of transforming it into a 243-room hotel.
Public filings report the hotel adjacent to The River Walk will be called the El Portal. The nearly 230,000 square foot hotel will be part of Marriott’s Autograph collection of standalone luxury hotels. Blueprint Hospitality paid over $20 million in early 2021 for the building. Cleveland-based Sandvick Architects, Inc. is leading the design effort. The project is slated to run from April to September 2024.
Blueprint performed a similar undertaking with the Downtown Fort Worth’s Texas Hotel Annex, part of the historic 1921-built Hotel Texas property. It will be the new home of the Le Meridien by Marriott. The $98 million project will create more than 200,000 square feet of hotel space in a downtown location. Upon completion, the Le Meridien will include more than 200 fully renovated guest rooms.
