Block D Debuts in Downtown San Diego
Makers Quarter opened Block D, a roughly 60,000 square-foot, six-story work hub with street level retail and restaurant suites, in downtown San Diego. The completion marks the first multi-tenant commercial office building to be constructed in downtown San Diego in more than a decade.
Roughly 70% of Block D is pre-leased. Tenants already leasing space include BASIC Agency, which claimed 10,364 square feet, and Spaces, which will occupy 33,806 square feet.
The project is a collaboration between architecture firm BNIM and the Makers Quarter development team that includes Lankford & Associates, HP Investors and Hensel Phelps. The developers envision Block D as downtown San Diego’s first net-zero energy and LEED Platinum certified building.
CBRE is handling the office leasing, and Flocke & Avoyer the retail space.
