Blink Muscles into Chicago with South Side Presence
Blink Fitness has made its Chicago-area debut with openings near Midway Airport on the South Side and in suburban Merrionette Park, bordering the city’s Southwest side.
Its near-term expansion plans regionally include a second South Side location, to be located in Bridgeport, along with facilities in Oak Lawn and Evanston, IL.
The low-cost subsidiary of Equinox, which launched in the New York City area in 2011, now numbers more than 90 locations nationwide. Prior to its first Chicago foray, Blink had expanded to Boston, Philadelphia, and Detroit.
“The days of compromising on the quality of your fitness experience, just to get a low price, are about to come to an end in Chicago,” said Todd Magazine, CEO of Blink Fitness. Magazine has first-hand knowledge of the market, having lived in Chicago for more than a dozen years while serving as a top executive with Quaker Oats and Gatorade.
