Arlington, VA-based Blackfin Real Estate Investors, LLC has hired Matthew Petrillo as managing director of investments in the company’s first executive-investment hire formally devoted to portfolio growth and geographic expansion.

Petrillo will be responsible for acquisitions and assisting with investor relations, targeting high-growth markets across the Southeast including AL, FL, GA, KY and TN.

Petrillo arrives from Madison Capital, where he served as VP, acquisitions and was responsible for transaction sourcing, execution and investor relations. Previously, he worked for more than six years at Clarion Partners, focused on multifamily, industrial, office and retail acquisitions throughout the East Coast and Midwest regions. During his time at Clarion, Petrillo acquired approximately $1.5 billion of investments.

Since the 2016 launch of Blackfin Real Estate Investors, LLC, the real estate investment management company has acquired nearly 12,000 multifamily units in major markets along the Atlantic.
