BioMed Realty, Takeda Finalize Lease for Entirety of 585 Kendall in Cambridge

BioMed Realty and Takeda have inked a deal for the latter to lease the entire 600,000-square-foot research and development project 585 Kendall, located at 585 Third Street in Cambridge, MA.

CBRE represented BioMed Realty while Cushman & Wakefield represented Takeda in the transaction.

The building, in Kendall Square, is expected to be ready for occupancy in 2026 and will provide 16 stories of lab office space with industry-leading sustainability features. BioMed and Takeda expect the building to achieve LEED Gold or higher designation.

“Rapid technological and medical innovation have led to continued demand for well-designed, mission critical life science research space concentrated in leading markets like Cambridge,” said Bill Kane, president, East Coast and U.K. markets for BioMed Realty “This significant lease is proof of the growing need for essential infrastructure that enhances collaboration and helps advance vaccine and drug discovery.”

585 Kendall will include a 300-seat performing arts venue at the base of the building (operated separately from the Takeda lease).
