BioMed Realty Announces Rebranding of 10-Acre Kendall Square Holdings

Life science real estate owner and operator BioMed Realty is rebranding its 10-acre holdings in Kendall Square. The new name, Canal District Kendall, aims to combine BioMed’s existing mix of retail, restaurants and life science with the artistic and cultural dynamics of the area.

A notable aspect of the new district is the yet-to-be-developed Parcel C at 585 Third St., a one-acre site that was acquired by BioMed for $50.5 million in 2018. The firm plans to include a cultural or arts component at the future development.

BioMed also announced a pop-up activation, which will lead events in the district all summer as a way for attendees and other Cambridge residents to share their ideas for future arts and culture programming at the Canal District.
